Huambo – The deputy minister of Agriculture for Forests, André de Jesus Moda, is since Friday in central Huambo province, to preside over on Saturday the main event of the celebrations of the World Day of Forests and Trees, March 21.
Ahead of the celebrations, the deputy minister will learn about the state of conservation and protection of local forests, as well as the functioning of the provincial department of the Institute of Forests Development (IDF).
Andre Moda will visit the IDF, with 50,000 trees to plant, the Sacahala forest perimeter and the experimental station of the Institute of Agronomic Research.
Upon arrival in Huambo, André Moda recalled that March 21 was institutionalised by the United Nations to raise awareness in the society on the importance of forests and on the collective responsibility of the communities for their protection, preservation and valorisation.
He stressed that the Ministry of Agriculture wants to seize the date to publicise information and initiatives that valorise trees and promote the sustainability of forests.
