Luanda – The participants at the first technical conference on national reserve parks and conservation areas recommended, here, for the institutionalisation of July 27 as Sable Antelope Day, an Angolan national symbol.
The experts pointed out this date because of being the day they started looking for the missing antelope in the National Reserve Park of Cangangala, in Malanje province, where they are now protected.
They also suggested the mobilization of human and financial resources to keep on
implementing the project that aims to conserve this rare specie, as they are reduced to five percent, from over 2,000 estimated in 1982, in the reserves of Luando and Cangandala (Malanje).
At the event, that was held under the celebration of January 31st, the National Environment Day, was also advised for a cooperation with the Portuguese-speaking Countries Community (CPLP), in terms of nature and biodiversity conservation, to adopt their experiences here in Angola (in the national reserve parks and conservation areas).
