Environment, Trade Ministries promote carbon market course


Luanda - The Ministries of Environment and Trade, in partnership with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTD) will start as from the first fortnight of March, a course on climate change and carbon market. 

 

The event, which in its first phase will be held at a distance, will benefit members from both sectors, especially those who are working to develop the 1st National Communication.

 

The document will reflect the state of emissions of Greenhouse Gases (GHG), as well as measures and mitigation policies. 

 

According to national director of environmental management of Environment ministry, Vladimir Russo, the course will provide technical knowledge on the Convention of Climate Change and Kyoto Protocol. 

 

Understanding of the project on the Clean Development Mechanisms (CDM) and encourage and strengthening Angola to participate in the carbon market are among other objectives to be pursued in this course, the official told Angop Tuesday.  

 

With the participation of 20 members, the first phase of the course will take place from 15 to 16 March, while the second is set from 16 to 15 April in Luanda, according to Vladimir Russo. 

 

The course will be run by experts from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.
