Luanda - The National Committee for Planet Earth under the Environment Ministry, will hold Tuesday in Luanda its first ordinary meeting to outline, among other issues, the new methods for implementing its activities.
Presided over by the minister of Environment, Fatima Jardim, the meeting will also assess the activities carried out by the National Committee since it was created in November 2009.
According to a press released by the Environment Ministry delivered Monday to Angop, the participants will discuss and approve the internal rules of this committee and the annual plan of activities for 2010.
The National Committee for Planet Earth has the responsibility to develop projects and scientific activities as well as dissemination of various topics in collaboration with the International Year of Planet Earth.
Under the responsibilities taken before the international bodies, the Environment Ministry has selected topics related to the land and health, climate, natural resources and energy, mega cities and oceans, for being disseminated within the population.
Angola became, in February 2009, the 80th member of the International Committee for Planet Earth and pledged to take action to protect the planet.
