Minister defends expansion of planet earth committee


 
Luanda - Angolan Environment minister, Maria Fátima Jardim, called for the nationwide expansion, soon, of the National Planet Earth Committee through various public-private institutions and civil associations represented in the organ, which fight for the defence of the environment.

 


Speaking this Tuesday on the sidelines of the 1st ordinary meeting of the organ linked to the Ministry of Environment, Fatima Jardim said there was a good commitment to the challenges posed around the planned activities by all its members.

 


She said that her institution is working hard in order to enable the National Planet Earth Committee to join the efforts made by the government and the society that regard the environment as a way of sustainability and better future for the new generations.

 


At the meeting, which marked the conclusion of the National Environment Week, held from February 01-05, in the light of "January 31", National Environment Day, the participants approved the rules of proceeding of that committee, business plan for 2010 and elected its executive secretary.

 


Angola became the 80th member country of the International Planet Earth Committee in February 2009 and pledged to implemented activities in favour of the preservation of the planet.
