Luanda - Angolan Environment Ministry will create new natural conservation areas in the provinces of Huambo, Uíge, Huíla, Lunda Norte and Kwanza Norte, to increase from 6.6 to 15 percent reserves over the national territory.
According to the chief of the national conservation areas department of the Environment Ministry, Joaquim Lorenço Manuel, studies are being done to reach this initiative, under the international commitment.
Speaking in the first technical journey on national reserve parks and conservation areas, Joaquim António said that it is also the intention to include, in these new areas, all biomes spread over the national territory.
Government, through the Environment Ministry, and its partners are also working to restore the game reserves of Luando (Malanje province), Namibe and Mavinga (Kuando Kubango province), among other projects.
In Angola, at least 13 conservation areas are controlled, known as national reserve parks and natural reserves in a total of 6 .6 percent over the territory.
