91 H1N1 deaths reported since June

Joanesburgo - The National Institute for Communicable Diseases says, since June this year, 91 people have died from the H1N1 virus in the country.

To date, there have been over 12 000 confirmed cases reported.

Pregnant women in their third trimester have a high risk of contracting the virus.

However, the NICD says the number of cases is decreasing as the country moves into the warmer summer months.

“We are seeing a decline, if we compare the number of cases from last month or two months ago, it is much less now,” says spokesperson Nombuso Shabalala.
