Govt defends construction of houses with quality material

Luanda – The minister of Public Works, Higino Carneiro, defended on Monday in Luanda that the government is concerned about guaranteeing that the construction of infrastructures in the country is adequate and obey international standards.

The official made this affirmation during the 2nd panel on the topic "Constructive Technologies, Basic Infrastructures and Construction Materials", part of the 1st National Conference on Housing, which is taking place in Luanda under the motto “Housing:
everyone’s challenge”.

To Higino Carneiro, the aforementioned topic is very essential and shows the ways, methods, typology, costs and materials used in the construction of works.

In his view the term “housing construction” truly evokes a simple and familiar concept (uses and customs), preserving the usual knowledge of simplicity and easiness, except when the government sees the need to guarantee proper equipment and structures.

The Public Works minister said that “if on one hand the implementation of infrastructures is considered fundamental for urbanisation, construction materials are truly the indispensable condition for the success of the government’s programme for the construction of one million residences ".

"In this conference we shall have contributions that will show the concepts, doctrines, principles, criteria, ways, minimum qualities and quantities to be used in order for each citizens to have a proper house in Angola", he concluded.

On the other hand, he announced the construction and functioning, soon, of five more cement factories that will further boost Angola’s reconstruction process.
