Lubango - Seventeen new railway stations were inaugurated on Monday and Tuesday in the provinces of Huila and Kuando Kubango by the minister of Transport, Augusto da Silva Tomás, Angop learned.
Augusto Tomás unveiled the railway stations of first, second and third class in the locality of Mapunda, Arimba, Chanja, Dongo, Tuntum, Jamba, Carvalhais, Caseta 37, Colui,Tontunhe,Tetchacaia, Tchamutete and Caseta 39 in Huila province and Canona and Cuchi station in Kuando Kubango.
Angop learnt that these stations are part of Moçâmedes railways.
Speaking to Angop, the minister said that the Angolan executive is doing everything so as to unveil in the month of August more than 39 new railway stations in the provinces of Namibe, Huila and Kuando Kubango.
The inaugurations were part of the Government’s effort to increase the supply of railway transports in that region of the country.
The construction of the stations follows an investment under the global strategy of the country’s economic and social development.
On July 13 this year, minister Augusto Tomás inaugurated ten railway stations of the Luanda Railway (CFL), namely those of Lombe, Zanga, Cacuso, Cambuze, Quinzenga, Lucala, Ndalatando, Canhonca, Luinha and Ndalahui, on the stretch between the northern provinces of Kwanza Norte and Malanje.
