Huambo – The Ngove dam, situated 120 kilometres from Huambo City, will start to produce electricity from February 2011, ANGOP has learnt from a local source.
According to the director-general of the department of Hydrographical Rehabilitation of Cunene Basin, Gomes da Silva, the repair of the infrastructure is in advanced stage and will allow the functioning of a 20-megawatt turbine, so that after four months it starts with two others, each with equal capacity, totalling 60 megawatts.
The project is estimated at 150 million US dollars and aims at the recovery of the dam and installation of an electrical power station.
