Luanda – The possibility of alterations to the Electoral Law is one of the recommendations from the meeting of the chairpersons of Provincial Electoral Commissions held Wednesday in Luanda.
Angop learned that during the meeting, chaired by the National Election Commission chairman, Caetano de Sousa, the participants mentioned the compulsoriness of voters to cast their ballot at their respective registration stations as one of the constraint of the law.
They justified this saying the counting of votes from special box causes much delays to the process.
The participants also recommended a major participation of the provincial electoral commissions in the mapping of the polling stations, in view of the reality of each province and the timely organisation of logistics, the population density and geographic largeness.
They also requested the CNE to get reinforced with human resources and create communication aids at the heights of the needs of the local organs.
The meeting also recommended the district electoral bureaus to get equipped to operate as data transmitting centres, impart major powers to the provincial commissions in hiring the services of local companies and provide the local organs with transports.
However, the participants agreed that the election went in a peaceful way, despite some constraints in the process of accreditation of polling station agents, list delegates and delays in the supply of the material.
Finally, the Provincial Commission chairpersons praised the engagement of the provincial governments, of the National Police and of the civil society that made the process successful.
Speaking to the press on behalf of her colleagues, Kwanza Sul Electoral Commission chairperson, Maria Cristina Dembe, said the success of the process was owed to the contribute of everyone directly or indirectly involved in it.
