Angolan Ambassador Speaks of Election Results

Lusaka – Angolan ambassador to Zambia, Pedro de Morais Neto, Wednesday in Lusaka, told local journalists that the election held in the country, overwhelmingly won by the ruling MPLA, was the expression of the people’s will.

Speaking at a press conference, Pedro Neto said that of the 14 election contesting parties, MPLA was the one that better convinced the voters.

He explained that the victory of the ruling party was owed to its governing experience and the convincing programme that influenced the electorate.

The diplomat also answered questions related to the forthcoming presidential election in Zambia, following the death of president Levy Mwanawasa, the announcement of the relaunch of the Angola-Zambia Joint Commission and the reopening of the Lobito corridor.

Meanwhile, the embassy has made arrangements for the mission’s diplomats and workers to watch live, on Tuesday, September 30, the ceremony of inauguration of the new 220-MP Parliament.
