Political parties lodge appeal to Constitutional Court

Luanda - The opposition political parties of PRS, UNITA and coalition CASA-CE lodged on Friday an appeal to the Constitutional Court (TC), regarding the decision of the National Electoral Commission (CNE).

The CNE dismissed on Wednesday in Luanda the complaints lodged by aforementioned political parties in relation to the electoral process.

CASA-CE’s appeal was handed by Lindo Bernardo Tito, while Manuel Muxito and David Mendes delivered the appeals of PRS and UNITA, respectively.

After receiving the pleadings with the components of evidence, the court will analyse and for these purposes of compliance with the adversarial principle must notify the CNE, which is expected to pronounce on a similar timeframe.

Given all the above steps, the Constitutional Court will have 72 hours to take the final decision.

In this context, the inauguration of the President and Vice President of the Republic shall be held within 15 days after the official publication of the final results.
