Angolan economy diversification strategy discussed in Brasilia

Brasslia - The guidelines of the Angolan economy diversification policy dominated the meeting the ambassador in Brazil had on Tuesday with the fellow diplomats based in the South American country.

Angolan ambassador to Brazil, Nelson Cosme

Ambassador Nelson Cosme briefed the audience on the country’s priority sectors whose production will be boosted to levels enabling exports at short term, thus ensuring new sources of foreign exchanges.

Nelson Cosme appealed to his counterparts to help by mobilising companies and businesspeople from their countries, with a view to partnerships in Angola, within the framework of the Government’s private investment policy, through the Angola Investment and Export Promotion Agency (APIEX) and the Technical Unit for Private Investment (UTIP).

The meeting also touched on consular and migratory matters, as well as cultural and educational issues.

The diplomats also spoke of the South-South cooperation, namely the relation between the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) and Mercosul, the Southern Atlantic Peace Zone (Zopacas) and the cooperation within the framework of the Africa-South America which will hold a summit in Ecuador this year.

As to cultural cooperation, the Angolan ambassador expressed interest to cooperate with the South American countries in exchange of media contents, participation in movie festivals, content markets, cuisine, art and design, and invited the attending countries to participate in the Angola Trademark Congress set to take place in Brazil.

Nelson Cosme is also the Angolan ambassador to Brazil also represents the country in Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.
