Lunda Sul: Over 500 tons of agricultural seeds distributed

Saurimo - At least 505 tons of cassava and sweet potato seeds were distributed from September 2015 to February this year, Angop has learnt.

The distribution process was carried out in the provinces of Bengo, Lunda Norte, Uige, Malanje, Moxico and Zaire.

The data were released Friday by the  Provincial Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries of Lunda Sul province.

According to the provincial director of the sector, Avelino Zeca, the seeds were taken from the four seed multiplication field based in the province.

He mentioned among other products, cassava and sweet potato sweets.

The official reiterated that the sector plans to increase seed multiplication fields in the municipalities of Cacolo, Dala, Muconda and Saurimo.

The challenge for this year also include acquisition of fertilizers, pesticides, in addition to equipping the Research Centre of Mona-Quimbundo locality.
