Lobito - The Government’s effort to lessen the impact of drastic fall in the oil price on the world market was praised Saturday in Lobito, central Benguela province.

Benguela deputy governor for economic affairs, Gika Morais, was addressing the opening of the 9th meeting of workers of the state-run estate managing company, Imogestin SA.
The official stated that the Government has recently adopted relevant measures to mitigate the impact of the low price of oil on the international market.
He said the new challenges demand synergies towards solutions to the effect of the crisis, which leads to the need to diversify the economy.
According to him, diversification of the economy must be based on agriculture, construction, fisheries and industry, with the use of local raw materials, resulting in the saving of foreign values, prosperity of businesses and families, and revenues for the State’s coffers.
The official said the vulnerabilities and diversification of the economy must be addressed with great vigour.
Gika Morais recalled that the Imogestin SA personnel meeting is taking place at a time Angola is going through a complex macro-economic environment, with the impact of the oil price severely reducing revenues and exports.
The event touched on such matters as community empowerment programmes, macro-process in the chain of values of estate projects at world level, as applied to the new satellite city projects.
