Brazzaville – Angola has been invited to attend the 27th regional ministerial conference of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO)  set for April 23-27 in Brazzaville, Congo.

The meeting will be preceded by a regional session of concert among organisations of the civil society tasked with drafting the proposals on the topics linked to agriculture in the continent.

The importance of the conference rests with the fact that the resolutions coming from the meeting will serve for the African countries and FAO to better coordinate the policies in the continent, with a view to food security included in the Detailed Programme of Development in Africa, under the New Partnership for Development (NEPAD).

Congo will be hosting the event in the light of the accord signed with FAO on February 15 this year.

The meeting is expected to be attended at the highest level in order to produce the political engagement concerning a coordination among African countries, the eradication of food insecurity, counting on their own resources.

Congo Brazzaville offered to host the meeting during the 26th conference held from May 3-7, 2010, in Luanda, Angola.
