Luanda - Angola has the potential, particularly concerning its women handball, to reach the top in world championships and Olympic Games within three years.
This was said Thursday in Luanda by the chairman of the International Handball Federation (IHF), Mustafa Hassan.
The official was speaking to journalists at the end of an audience granted to him by the Angolan vice president, Manuel Vicente.
Mustafa Hassan, who is winding up a four-day visit to Angola on Thursday, ahead of the organisation in the country of the African championship and a world championship, between 2015 and 2016, said that in order to attain the above goal, the country’s authorities and the IHF just have to work together.
He added that the goal is the Olympic Games of 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, and should all work together, each doing its part, great attainments will be reached in three years time.
Mustafa Hassan informed that his organisation will help in various domains, with stress to the assignment of technicians to work on training.
Commenting on the audience with the vice president, the Egyptian said he is sure Manuel Vicente is a man of sport and that the Government is fully committed to assisting, particularly in handball.
The official also stated that during his stay in Angola he met with various government officials and that the audience with the vice president assured him that sport is receiving all required assistance.
Since Monday in the Angolan capital, the delegation that include the chairman of the African Handball Confederation, Aremou Manserou, of Benin, worked with representatives of the Angolan Olympic Committee (COA) and of the Angolan Handball Federation (FAAND).
The delegation also met with the Angola minister of Youth and Sports, Gonçalves Muandumba, and visited the headquarters of Petro de Luanda and 1º de Agosto clubs.
